Ernestine Faux is a visual artist working in the field of abstract, minimalist colour field painting. From this practice emerge paintings, relief objects and sculptural works that respond to architecture and contribute to shaping the character of a space.
Her work is based on the understanding of colour as an emotional and spatial language. Colour is not only perceived visually, but experienced physically — influencing atmosphere, orientation and the way a space is felt.
Over the past decades, her practice has expanded from the two-dimensional into site-specific installations and spatial concepts, developed in dialogue with architecture, landscape and human perception.
Working between Austria and Bali, her artistic language is shaped by the interaction of different cultural and sensory systems. Her works have been presented internationally, including at the European Cultural Centre in Venice, in parallel with the Biennale, as well as in hospitality and corporate environments across Europe and Asia.
Her work seeks to inspire and to give each place its own voice.
